Food pairing:
Nose of chalky, peppery baked plums, slightly pruney, big cassis and juicy dark fruit, tobacco, bacon fat and cedar.
Palate of tarry cassis, ripe berries (blackberry and cassis), turning mature and cedary on the finish, with hints of red licorice. Lovely.
(Other tasters (e.g. Suckling) have commented on shortness or acidity on the finish, but this bottle exhibited none of that.)
