Food pairing:
Although opened a good 2 hours before drinking, it still smelled of a farmyard in the glass. Half an hour in the glass however and that farmyard smell had moderated and I could smell dried raisins.
On the palate it tasted of blackcurrants and also liquorice and had some length to it but also moderate tannins. As it's only a 2003 maybe it just needs longer to come to it's full potential considering it's a £25 wine. And it certainly didn't look like a typical pinot noir being quite dark.
