I saw this wine recommended in Tim Atkin's excellent column in The Observer in the "Best wine under £5" category. It's certainly very drinkable and when you read up about the grape being responsible for most of the over production in France in the 1990's and how few people are now growing it, then the taste comes as a pleasant surprise.
It has a strong taste of prunes, blackcurrants and although the bottle label says chocolate I couldn't find that. It's quite a "beefy" wine so would go well with strong flavoured foods especially on a wet and windy night like it is now. Oh, and it's a lovely deep plummy colour.
And for £4.99 in Sainsburys, it's doesn't break the bank
