Have tried this wine on numerous occasions and over various vintages. Has to be said that it is one of the best but so very overpriced. I guess thats what happens when you are under the LVMH umbrella. Shame as it's a good wine but price has to be a factor!

After reading about how great this wine is here on BottleTalk, I decided to try find a bottle and see for myself. It seemed nobody had heard of it, let alone stocked it, until a friend of mine found a small family run wine store somewhere in Stourbridge and bought it me for Christmas (wohoo!).

I have to agree with both Emma & Will on this one, a very tasty wine, which I thoroughly enjoyed, but for the money it didn't rock my socks off.

Tasted the 2006 vintage fairly recently - it's a bit young at the moment. (3 stars)

My father's a big fan and get's a case of Cloudy Bay every year - some of the older ones are truly fantastic and easily worth 5 stars, also they aren't as expensive as some might think - just hard to find!

Food pairing: Fajitas I think?

Well along with the rest of the world my husband and I had heard the hype around this particular wine but had never tried it [even while wine tasting in New Zealand, just wanted to drop that on in :-)].

However, last January we had dinner at our very good friends Will and Ali's house and they served this up - well, the 2005. Well what a treat, and what lovely friends, as I'm sure if this was me, I would have guzzled it up on my own ... well maybe I might have given the husband a glass.

Is it worth the hype? Undecided, but definitely a lovely drop.

Update: we've now just bought a bottle of the 2006, not drunk yet: so will update the experience once we have.

Having tasted a 2005 Cloudy Bay on my travels in the US over the summer, I took the chance to taste the new vintage. I think it's an over hyped wine (although I don't know who has hyped it). I'm a great fan of Grove Mill and Jackson Estate's sauvignons and don't see a need to spend double on a Cloudy Bay when you can get these great alternatives for less than £9.99 a bottle.

BUT and it's a big BUT I have never tasted a wine with such consistent and strong length. On the palate it had all you would expect from a good Kiwi sauvignon but the length is something I have never experienced before. Five minutes later it was still there and my two friends also felt the same. So, just for the experience, I'd say it's worth the money on an occasional basis but I won't stop buying Grove Mill.
