Turley Zins for me have been a bit of a holy grail over the years. Initially, they were inaccessible due purely to demand like 49ers season tickets, but then became inaccessible due to cost as well, after the dot-com fiasco. Recently, by acquiring new properties such as Pesenti in Paso Robles, Turley have attempted to meet demand for their wines by offering lower-quality output under their respectable label. Juveniles 2005 is nothing but the result of newly planted vineyards subject to an exaggerated growing season and whose fruit was over-oaked to compensate for the lack of complexity these young vines could produce. As such, it is woody, overly-alcoholic, but still offers a glimmer at to what Ehron Jordan can produce when he has killer grapes that don't require viticultural sleight-of-hand to compensate for.
