Clearly Spain's best Chardonnay, and, some argue, Spain's best white (I don't agree - but it's definitely outstanding from any perpsective), the Chivite Colección 125 is consistently a wonderful experience. It's got a generous, expansive nose of butter, cream, lightly toasted almonds and orchard fruit - apricots, peaches and just a hint of lime. The palate is voluptuous and enveloping, the finish refined and captivating. It's not cheap (€40+ or about £30) but it's supremely elegant and worth every penny. It's possible that the 2003, contrary to generalised beliefs about the 2001 and 2004 vintages "in Spain" (whatever such a general judgement means), is the best vintage of this wine. But the 2005 comes close.
