Another excellent offering from the increasingly celebrated winery Abadía Retuerta in Castilla y León, Spain. Gorgeous, enveloping aromas of leather, cigar-box and strawberry lead to a wonderfully velvety, luscious experience that's got just the right amount of tannic astringency and structure. There are minor hints of cherry in a firm background of subtle oak and toasted, biscuity sensations. The sweet aromas keep returning, more complex as the wine evolves. Excellent wine, very exciting indeed! Get some.

Quite a few wines from Abadía Retuerta (www.abadia-retuerta.com; comments on www.wineanorak.com/abadiaretuerta.htm) are available in the UK, from places like Everywine (www.everywine.co.uk) and Fine & Rare Wines (www.frw.co.uk). However, the 2004 vintage is not yet available in the UK, as far as I can see. I expect it to retail for about £12+. Hope this is helpful!
