Click on 'Add a wine' from the main navigation to add the wine details direct from the bottle, and then you will automatically be taken through to add your rating and wine experience.
As a member of Bottletalk you can add Tasting Tags to any wine you have tried. The Tasting Tags are words that describe the flavours of the wine and other memorable qualities, for example pepper, blackberry, gooseberry etc. Finding a flavour you like amongst the Tasting Tags in the homepage tag cloud or other tag lists makes it easy to find a selection of wines that have the taste you are looking for. The homepage tag cloud features the most popular Tasting Tags added by Bottletalk members. The tag cloud on your personal profile page features the Tasting Tags only you have added to the wines you have tasted. Click here to see a selection of Tasting Tags.
Members of Bottletalk can rate any wine they have tried. The rating system works as follows:
= Outstanding
= Very good
= Good
= Average
= Poor
In the listings a wine is shown with the average rating of everyone who has tasted and rated it. Go through to the wine page to see ratings and Tasting Notes from individual Bottletalk members.
Some wines that do not have a photograph of either the bottle or label attached to them have an icon instead. The icons are an indication of the type of wine:

These are Bottletalk's indication of the price that our members paid for a wine. Prices can change and vary depending on where and when the wine was purchased, so rather than giving a specific price, we just like to give a price range which are indicated by the icons as follows:
At the moment Bottletalk is mainly designed for a UK audience, but we're hoping to expand soon and add price options and retailer options for other countries.

We don't directly sell wine at Bottletalk but we do try and be helpful and add in a link to a retailer from a listed wine when we have one.
Ahhh ... food and wine, our favourite things. As well as knowing what you thought of a wine we thought it would be useful for other members to know what you ate with the wine. If you just guzzled the wine all on its own, no worries, but if you had a fantastic wine with a fantastic meal, come on share the feast!
Any member of Bottletalk can nominate a wine to be a Desert Island Wine, this is the highest accolade a wine can get on Bottletalk. The Desert Island Wines page shows a collection of all the members' Desert Island Wines, and is an easy and quick way to browse some real wine winners.
RSS - really simple syndication - is a way to receive details of the latest content from Bottletalk. You can subscribe to feeds of:

All you need receive the feed is an RSS Reader, of which there are many free versions. RSS Readers are also built into many browsers, including two of the most popular – Mozilla Firefox and Opera.
